About Julie
Julie Holt
Julie Holt has over two decades of education experience and a passion for building communities that holistically support and empower students. In 2024, she launched Three Points Education, LLC, as a venue for leveraging that experience to build better connections between schools, families, and community partners and to further the importance of reading literacy as a critical social justice issue for all students. She has advised local DC charter schools to improve their special education compliance and programming; consulted with community non-profits to provide professional development, curriculum and coaching to support secondary transition and inclusive practices in DC schools; and partnered with schools to provide direct literacy instruction to students.
Prior to starting Three Points Education, LLC, Julie served as the Director of Special Education at E.L. Haynes Public Charter School in Washington, DC, where she was a member of the Student Support Services team for over 10 years. She also spent three years with the District of Columbia Public Schools’ Central Office, supporting efforts around Section 504, student discipline, and student support teams. Before moving to DC, she worked in Boston, MA, at South Boston High School, running a peer mediation program, and in Providence, RI, where she supported substance abuse prevention programming, directed an elementary community school program, and was part of a founding team for a city-wide middle school after-school initiative.
Julie earned a B.A. in English Literature from Boston University and an Ed.M. in Risk and Prevention from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. She also completed the Relay’s Graduate School of Education leadership program for special education. In 2025, Julie received her Orton-Gillingham certification through the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) and passed the Knowledge and Practice Examination for Effective Reading Instruction (KPEERI). In addition, she is certified as a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist through the Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI). She currently lives in Washington, DC’s Petworth neighborhood, with her husband, two children and their new puppy. When she isn’t reading or researching literacy best practices, Julie loves baking sweet treats and spending time outdoors.
